WURI releases its annual lists of schools with real impact

SAN FRANCISCO World Universities with Real Impact (WURI), a global think tank under the umbrella of the Hanseatic League of Universities, has released its annual rankings which evaluate universities’ real contributions to the global society. Foundry College achieved rankings in the categories of “Global Top Innovative Universities” and “Entrepreneurial Spirit.”

Through live, face-to-face classes delivered in an online setting, Foundry College’s learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge that employers are seeking by providing credentialed certificates that pair an externally-recognized, job-ready credential with the most sought-after durable professional skills for an education that aligns with jobs of today and tomorrow, where starting salaries are impressive, and remote jobs are plentiful and growing fast.

“Foundry College is deeply rooted in innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Akiba Covitz, CEO of Foundry College. “Our unique, active online format and science-based teaching methods differentiate us from other programs, and we are committed to giving every learner the best possible chance for success in a rapidly changing world. Our programs propel learners clearly forward and set them apart in a competitive job market. Additionally, students learn on Foundry College’s unique online learning platform, the Forge, which incorporates the science of learning into every class to support learner success.”

Courses in Foundry College’s innovative credentialed certificate programs in business and information technology are designed using scientifically proven teaching methods based on the insights created by the leading educational psychologists. Foundry College’s programs incorporate active learning techniques at the deepest levels for exceptional student outcomes. All learning takes place within the live classroom, which means there is no pre-work or homework assigned. The American Council on Education has evaluated and recommended three college credits for each of Foundry College’s professional skills courses contained within the credentialed certificate programs, providing added value in terms of time and money for learners.

Foundry College’s proprietary learning management system, the Forge, utilizes cutting-edge technology and is purpose-built for online teaching and learning. It provides unrivaled teaching technology grounded in the science of learning and integrates the principles of active learning into every course to promote student success as it seamlessly integrates curriculum, pedagogy and technology for improved student learning outcomes and best replicates a physical classroom.

“In recent years, higher education institutions have been encountering two major trends. The first one is that the boundary between the universities and business has become blurred as universities began to offer practical education that directly engages with entrepreneurs,” said Hwy-Chang Moon, founding director of the WURI Ranking, and Professor Emeritus and Former Dean, GSIS, Seoul National University. “Another development is the rise of institutions that are structured to educate students with specialized knowledge in a particular field. Foundry College’s innovative education system has significantly contributed to aligning with the growing demands in contemporary society.”

Foundry College’s programs are designed to lower barriers to accessing post-secondary education and give more people the opportunity to succeed professionally. There are no prerequisites for eligibility and the application process is brief. Programs are offered at an affordable cost, with a quick time-to-completion, and consistently earn exceptionally high satisfaction ratings by learners, with Net Promoter Scores twice as high as many other learning experiences.

About WURI

World’s Universities With Real Impact (WURI) was formed as a task force to prepare a new university ranking system by the Organizing Committee of the Second Conference of the Hanseatic League. WURI evaluates a university’s real contributions to our society and highlights creative and innovative approaches to university research and education that focus on: a) industrial applications, rather than the traditional ways of counting research papers and lecture-type teaching; b) value-creating startups and entrepreneurship, rather than a traditional focus on the number of jobs filled; c) social responsibility, ethics, and integrity, rather than a focus on knowledge and skills just for material success; and d) student mobility and openness for exchange and collaboration between schools and across national borders, rather than an independent yet closed system.
